The Danish summer can be wonderful — long bright days, ice cream, and time spent outdoors. But if you're pregnant, the warmer months can also feel a little more challenging than usual.
Remember to drink water
As temperatures rise, your body needs more fluids — especially during pregnancy. Make sure to drink regularly throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
A good tip: carry a water bottle with you everywhere, or make your water a little more exciting with lemon, mint, or frozen berries.
Keep your body cool
Loose, light clothing, resting in the shade, and cool baths can make a big difference. Many pregnant women also find it helpful to cool their wrists, neck, or feet with cold water or a chilled cloth.
Listen to your body
It's perfectly normal to feel more tired or short of breath during pregnancy, and heat can intensify this. Give yourself permission to take breaks, seek shade, and slow down when your body tells you it needs a rest.
Seek help if you feel unwell
If you experience dizziness, severe headaches, persistent nausea, or generally feel unwell in the heat, move into the shade, have something cold to drink, and contact your doctor if symptoms don't improve quickly.
As a pregnant person, your body is doing remarkable work every single day. Summer is perhaps a good reminder to slow down, prioritise rest, and be extra kind to yourself.
