Harmony test – NIPT

 

The Harmony Test is a blood test taken from the mother’s arm from week 10+0 of pregnancy. The sample is analyzed for small fragments of the baby’s DNA that circulate in the mother’s blood.

The test provides a highly accurate assessment of the risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities (syndromes) – similar to the nuchal translucency scan and the Double Test, but with much greater precision. The Harmony Test detects up to 99.9% of fetuses with Down syndrome, while the nuchal translucency scan and Double Test detect around 89%.

The Harmony Test is best suited for pregnancies with a single fetus – including those conceived using donor eggs or donor sperm. However, it is a prerequisite that neither you nor the biological father are carriers of chromosomal abnormalities.

If the Harmony Test is not suitable for you due to weight, the Evita Test may be a better option.
